Using locally produced materials for glaze, pottery is made in a larch forest at an altitude of 1,300 meters.
Keeping in mind everyday use, modernity and relieved warmth coexist.
粉引-白土を全面にかけ、まだらに粉を吹いたように見えるもの
Kohiki: bowls covered completely with white clay which has a powdered appearance in places.
陶器は使用前に目止めを行うことをお勧めします。
水に米か片栗粉を入れてから陶器を加えて弱火から10分ほど沸騰させ 一晩冷めるまで置きます。 すると、陶器の中にとぎ汁が浸透をし、水もれを防いだり もともと割れやすい陶器を強固にしてくれます。
The process of “medome” is as follows. At first, rinse grains of rice or potato starch with water and keep the water for the next step. Then, boil in low heat for 10mnts the rice-water and the pottery into the pot and cool it for one night, so that the rice-water soaks into the inner surface of the pottery and seals it. The purpose of this procedure is to make the clay robust and prevent it from cracking or leaking.
